Our Daddy, Our Hero

It takes a special man to be able to witness tragedy, day in and day out,

yet come home to his family without a sign of bitterness in his heart

It takes a special man to remain strong for the victims and their families,

all the while, waiting to find a moment alone to let the tears flow, if only for a minute

It takes a special man to work long hours and many sleepless nights

and still come home to his children ready and willing to play.

It takes a special man to treat injuries more severe than most people will ever see,

yet still give the utmost care to his child’s “boo-boo” without belittling the pain.

It takes a special man to reassure his family that he will always be there for them-

knowing, deep down, that he could easily lose his life while saving another.

There are many men who dedicate their lives to being a firefighter,

but it takes a special man to be OUR DADDY – OUR HERO.
